The Invisible Light That Heals You From the Inside Out

There’s a wavelength of light your eyes can’t see — but your body absolutely can feel. It’s called near infrared light, and it may be one of the most powerful healing tools available today. It’s built into every single session in our SpectraLight beds, and if you’ve ever walked out of one of our sessions feeling unexpectedly good — like something deep in your body just exhaled — near infrared light is a big part of why.

Let’s talk about what it is, what it does, and why the science behind it is genuinely exciting.

What is near infrared light?

Near infrared light sits just beyond the visible spectrum — right past the red light you can see, at wavelengths between 700 and 1,440 nanometers. You can’t see it, but it penetrates your body more deeply than any visible light wavelength. While red light works primarily on the skin’s surface, near infrared light goes deeper — reaching your muscles, joints, tendons, nerves, and even bone.

Think of it like sunlight. Visible sunlight warms your skin. Near infrared light warms and activates the layers underneath — all the way down to the cellular level.

The science of how it works

Here’s where it gets genuinely fascinating. A 2024 review published in PMC through the NIH — one of the most comprehensive reviews of light therapy research to date — confirmed what researchers have been building toward for decades: near infrared light is absorbed by a specific enzyme in your mitochondria called cytochrome c oxidase.

Mitochondria, as you may remember from school, are the energy powerhouses of your cells. Cytochrome c oxidase is a critical part of how mitochondria produce ATP — the fuel that every single cell in your body runs on. When near infrared light is absorbed by this enzyme, it activates and enhances the mitochondria’s ability to produce energy. More cellular energy means more capacity for repair, regeneration, and healing.

The Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences published research confirming that near infrared light stimulates healing, relieves pain, and reduces inflammation — with cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondria identified as the primary mechanism. This isn’t a fringe theory. This is peer-reviewed science from some of the most respected institutions in the world.

What this means for your body

When you lie in our SpectraLight bed and near infrared light is penetrating several centimeters into your tissue, here is what is happening at a cellular level:

Your mitochondria are absorbing that light and producing more ATP. Your cells now have more energy to do their jobs — repairing damaged tissue, reducing inflammation, regenerating collagen, clearing waste products, and restoring balance. Blood flow improves as blood vessels dilate. Antioxidant pathways activate, reducing oxidative stress. And the effects compound — meaning consistent sessions build on each other over time.

Why we chose SpectraLight

When Tiffany and I were creating our studio, we were very deliberate about the technology we chose. We didn’t want to offer just red light therapy — we wanted full spectrum, which means all four wavelengths working together in every single session. Near infrared light was non-negotiable for us because of the depth of its effect. It’s the wavelength that reaches where other therapies can’t — into the deep tissue, the joints, the places where chronic pain and inflammation live.

Combined with our 10,000 Rife frequencies, we believe our SpectraLight beds offer one of the most comprehensive non-invasive wellness sessions available anywhere.

The bottom line

Near infrared light isn’t a wellness trend. It’s a well-studied, science-backed therapy with decades of published research behind it. And the fact that you can access it in a relaxing, spa-like session — with no downtime, no side effects, and no drugs — makes it one of the most exciting tools in modern wellness.

Your first 20-minute session is completely free. Come feel the invisible light that your body has been waiting for. 🤍
