Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is red light therapy and how does it work?
Red light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses low-level wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes at a cellular level.
When these wavelengths of light penetrate the skin, they are absorbed by the mitochondria—the “powerhouses” of your cells—which boosts cellular energy (ATP production). This increase in energy helps the body repair itself more efficiently, reduces inflammation, and promotes regeneration in skin, muscles, joints, and tissues.
Q. What are the benefits of red light therapy?
Red-light therapy is commonly used to support skin health, reduce joint pain, boost energy, improve circulation, and enhance recovery.
It’s widely used for:
- Skin health (reducing fine lines, wrinkles, acne, and scars)
- Pain relief (muscle and joint pain, arthritis)
- Faster recovery after workouts or injuries
- Improved circulation and cellular repair
- Mood and energy support, often by regulating circadian rhythms
Q. Is red light therapy safe?
Yes! It’s non-invasive, painless, and FDA-approved for certain applications. It does not use UV light, so it won’t damage skin.
Q. What is full spectrum light therapy?
Full spectrum light therapy uses light that closely mimics natural sunlight, including all the wavelengths of visible light—to support physical and emotional well-being.
It’s most commonly used to help:
- Boost mood and energy
- Regulate sleep cycles by supporting natural melatonin production
- Relieve symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
- Improve focus and productivity
- Support vitamin D synthesis (if UVB is present)
Full spectrum light can help reset your internal body clock (circadian rhythm), making it especially useful for people dealing with fatigue, mood dips during darker months, or irregular sleep patterns.
Q. How does full-spectrum light therapy work?
Clients relax in our SpectraLight Therapy Bed for 15–30 minutes. The light signals the brain to reduce melatonin and boost serotonin and cortisol in healthy amounts, helping you feel more awake, alert, and balanced.
Unlike red light therapy, which works on deep tissue repair, full spectrum light therapy focuses more on brain chemistry, mood regulation, and hormonal balance. It’s gentle, safe, and often felt almost immediately in terms of improved mood or alertness.
It mimics natural sunlight and includes all visible wavelengths, often used to boost mood, balance circadian rhythms, and support vitamin D production (depending on UV levels).
Q. How is full spectrum light therapy different from red light therapy?
Red light therapy targets deep tissue healing at the cellular level, while full spectrum light therapy is generally used to regulate biological rhythms and improve overall mood.
Q. How often should I use full-spectrum or red-light therapy to receive the benefits?
1. This depends on your goals, but most people see benefits with 2-3 sessions per week. For general wellness or skin health, 1-2 sessions per week may be enough. If you’re targeting specific issues like muscle recovery, pain relief, or mood improvement, 3-5 sessions per week could speed up results.
2. Each session usually lasts about 10-20 minutes, and consistency is key for seeing long-term benefits. We offer membership programs which offer discounted rates compared to per session pricing, making regular use of our services more affordable.
Q. Can I just specify red light therapy?
Yes. Red light can be specified, however, having all colors of light waves will enhance your experience and not hinder the red light at all.
Q. Can red-light therapy detoxify the body?
Red light therapy can start supporting detoxification after just a few sessions, but the effects build over time. Most people begin to notice subtle changes—such as improved circulation, reduced inflammation, and better lymphatic drainage—within 3 to 5 sessions.
For deeper detox benefits, such as enhanced cellular repair and toxin elimination, a consistent routine of 2 to 4 weeks (with 3 to 5 sessions per week) is often recommended. The exact number of sessions needed depends on factors like individual metabolism, toxin load, hydration levels, and overall health.
Pairing red light therapy with hydration, exercise, and a nutrient-rich diet can enhance detoxification effects.
Q. Can light therapy help people with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) disorder?
Absolutely. SAD is a serious condition affecting millions of people yearly. The primary culprit is a lack of sunlight, which disrupts our body’s natural rhythms and depletes essential mood-regulating chemicals, such as serotonin. During darker months, exposure to natural sunlight is reduced, leading to a drop in serotonin levels in the body.
A lack of serotonin contributes to various conditions, including the onset of Seasonal Affective Disorder, depression, anxiety, and mania – this is where light therapy comes in. Light therapy involves exposure to bright light that mimics natural sunlight, typically through a lightbox. Individuals need to sit near this light source for about 20 to 30 minutes daily to help their bodies boost and maintain optimal serotonin levels. The bright light from the device stimulates the brain’s production of serotonin, which can improve mood and alleviate symptoms of depression.
Q. What should I wear during a light therapy session?
You can expose as much skin as you’re comfortable with—the more skin exposure, the better the light can reach your cells. So, anything from light work-out clothes to underwear to bare skin!
Q: What is the SpectraLight Therapy Bed?
The SpectraLight Therapy Bed is an advanced, full-body light therapy system that delivers red, near-infrared, and full spectrum light, combined with Rife frequencies for a powerful, multi-dimensional healing experience.
Unlike handheld or spot-treatment devices, the SpectraLight Bed allows you to relax comfortably while your entire body receives therapeutic light. The wavelengths used are specifically chosen to:
Stimulate cellular repair and regeneration
Reduce inflammation and pain
Support mood, energy, and mental clarity
Promote healthy skin, circulation, and immune function
What sets it apart is the integration of Rife-indexed frequencies, which are delivered during your session through embedded technology. These frequencies are designed to work in harmony with the light, targeting specific wellness concerns at an energetic level.
Sessions are safe, non-invasive, and deeply restorative—many clients describe the experience as calming, energizing, and even euphoric.
Q. What are Rife Frequencies?
Rife frequencies are specific sound or electromagnetic waves which are believed to target and support the body’s natural healing processes. Developed by scientist Royal Raymond Rife in the 1930s, these frequencies were originally used to help identify and disrupt harmful microorganisms. Today, many holistic wellness practitioners incorporate Rife frequency technology into light therapy and other modalities to promote relaxation, reduce inflammation, and support cellular health.
Q: How are Rife Frequencies used in the SpectraLight Therapy Bed?
The SpectraLight Therapy Bed integrates Rife frequencies directly into its light and sound output. This means that while you’re receiving full-body blue, green, red and near-infrared light therapy, specific Rife-indexed frequencies are simultaneously delivered through the bed’s system. These frequencies are carefully selected to align with wellness goals—such as reducing inflammation, boosting energy, or enhancing cellular regeneration.
Q. Can you increase or decrease the power of the Rife frequencies?
Yes. The intensity of the Rife frequencies can be adjusted from 0 to 100%. It is typical to begin at a mid-point such as 50%, see how it feels and increase or decrease the intensity from there.
Q. What if I’m claustrophobic?
We believe those of you with claustrophobia will be amazed and surprised at how comfortable you will feel inside the bed, as not only is the height of the cover easy to adjust, but the head and foot of the bed are completely open.
Q. Can I receive benefits for more than one problem at a time?
Absolutely! Light therapy works deep in your cells to help your body heal and restore balance. Different types of light target various issues, like boosting energy in your cells, reducing inflammation, and balancing hormones. This means it can tackle multiple problems at the same time, making it a great all-in-one solution for many health concerns.
Q. What are the different colors of light waves used in the bed?
The Spectra Light Bed uses 4 types of light waves: Red, Blue, Green and Near Infrared. Use one at a time or any combination together.
Q. Are the lights steady or flashing?
Both. Some frequency settings are very flashy and bright; others are very calm and steady. We can help you determine which is which.
